Search

Most of the time you don’t need to think about how to search — type what you remember and Moonjar finds it. If you want more control, you can pick a specific mode.

  • Moonjar app installed and signed in.
  • At least one document captured.
  1. Open Moonjar.
  2. Tap the search icon at the top of the Documents tab, or open the command palette (More → Command palette).
  3. Type what you remember — keywords, a vendor name, a date.
  4. Tap a result to open the document.

You can narrow a search by:

  • Document type — limit to receipts, travel documents, etc.
  • Year and month — when the document was dated, not when you captured it.

Moonjar runs in auto mode by default. If you want to override:

  • Full-text — exact words in the source. Best for unique strings like booking codes or names.
  • Semantic — meaning-based, using embeddings. Best for vague recall, like “that thing about retirement plans”.
  • Structured — searches inside extracted fields like vendor or total. Best for “all my Vodafone bills”.
