Chat
Chat is Moonjar’s AI assistant — Claude, with read and write access to your library. Ask it about things you’ve saved, ask it to capture, organise, plan, or research, and it can use tools to do real work.

How it fits together
Section titled “How it fits together”Chat sits on top of everything else in Moonjar. It can search your documents, recall memories, manage collections, write reminders, and reach out to the web (search, weather, places, news, flight status, shows, books) — all in the same conversation. Each turn is an agentic loop: the assistant calls the tools it needs, observes the results, and writes back to you.
The model is Claude Sonnet 4.6. Moonjar uses Anthropic for the chat itself, Cohere for the search embeddings the chat reads, and OpenAI for voice input and spoken replies. See What the chat knows about you for the data-flow detail.
Stopping a reply mid-stream
Section titled “Stopping a reply mid-stream”While the assistant is generating a reply, the send button in the composer turns into a stop button. Tap it to cancel the in-flight turn. The conversation keeps whatever text Claude had already streamed and the bubble shows a Stopped marker so you can tell a cancelled turn from a complete one. Stopping also frees up the rest of that turn’s token budget — you don’t pay for the remaining generation.
Long conversations get summarised in place
Section titled “Long conversations get summarised in place”Claude has a 200,000-token input window. Once a conversation crosses about 80% of that, Anthropic’s compaction strategy summarises the older turns server-side and continues from the summary — you don’t lose access to the earlier messages (you can still scroll back), but the model only sees the summary on subsequent turns. A small “used X% of context” indicator appears in the chat header once you cross 75% so you know compaction is coming up. After it fires, an “Older messages summarised” divider appears in the thread.
