Usage and limits

Moonjar tracks how much you use it against a set of monthly allowances. Each cap covers a different surface; they’re tracked and reset independently. New accounts start on a 7-day free trial of Moonjar Pro; after the trial you continue on Pro at the same allowances.

ResourceAllowanceWhat counts
Chat1,000 messages per monthEach message you send to the chat assistant. Tool calls inside the assistant’s reply don’t count separately.
Capture2,000 captures per monthEach new document — typed notes, URLs, photos, PDFs, scans, emails. Forwarded email captures also count.
Voice calls200 sessions per monthEach conversation-mode (live voice) session you open.
Voice minutes120 minutes per monthTotal voice transcription and conversation-mode duration.
Storage20 GBTotal size of your captured files (photos, PDFs, scans, email attachments).

Counters reset on a 30-day rolling period anchored to your account. The clock starts the first time you do anything that uses an allowance — sending a chat message, capturing something, recording voice. It resets exactly 30 days later. Resets are atomic and branchless: when the period rolls over, every counter goes back to zero in the same query that records the next event, so there’s no race window where you’d be charged in two periods.

The reset isn’t on the calendar. “This month” in the app means “the last 30 days from your period start”, not the calendar month.

The relevant action is blocked with a clear error and a sheet that explains which cap was hit and when it resets. Other surfaces keep working — hitting your chat cap doesn’t stop you capturing, and vice versa.

Storage is enforced at upload time. A capture that would push you past 20 GB is rejected; the underlying document isn’t created.

Open Settings → Usage (or the equivalent path — [TODO: VERIFY exact UI label]). The screen shows each allowance side-by-side with what you’ve used this period.

  • Allowances apply per Moonjar account. Group-shared content doesn’t double-count for other group members — usage is yours alone.
  • Voice calls and voice minutes are tracked separately. A short conversation can hit the call cap without using up much voice time, and a long conversation can push you toward the minute cap quickly.
  • Caps are global on Moonjar’s side; there’s no per-day or per-hour rate-limit beyond the monthly cap. [TODO: VERIFY] Whether per-IP login throttling counts here too (the auth route has its own short-window rate limits separate from these caps).
